IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margie Lee
Reece
January 19, 1935 – January 4, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Margie Lee Reece, who left this world on Sunday, January 4, 2026, just two weeks shy of her 91st birthday. A graveside service was held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville, MO. Memorial contributions are suggested to Harrisonville First Baptist Church in Harrisonville.
Born on January 19, 1935, in Paola, Kansas, to Marion Kenneth and Mabel Inez (Alcorn) Tarwater, Margie was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose warmth and compassion touched the lives of all who knew her. Margie graduated from Harrisonville High School with the Class of 1952. Her career began in the heart of the community as a cook in the cafeteria of the Harrisonville schools, where she nourished not only the bodies but also the spirits of countless students. Her dedication and hard work eventually led her to Hallmark Cards, where she spent 16 fulfilling years in the ornament department before retiring. Throughout her life, Margie brought joy through her contributions, both at work and as a devoted volunteer at the Hospital Gift Store, where she brightened the days of many.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Ewing Reece; her daughter, Julie Attaoui; and her brothers, Kenny and Verl Tarwater. She is survived by her son, Charles (Linda) Reece, of Harrisonville, MO; her granddaughter, Megan (Eric) Bautista of Harrisonville, MO; grandson, Ethan (Hannah) Reece of Mines, Germany; and three precious great-grandsons Heyden, Dominic, and Bryson, who were the light of her life; her brother, Jerry Tarwater, Harrisonville, MO; her sisters, Sondra England of Warsaw, MO, and Becky Thomas of Orlanda, FL; and many more family and friends.
