Margey May Moore, 72, of Peculiar, Missouri, died Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services
will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 13 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Harrisonville. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri. Visitation will be Wednesday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. with Rosary at 8:00 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the church in Margey's name.
Margey was born June 28, 1941 in Morrill, Nebraska, the daughter of Noah Norton and Ruby Laura (Fuller) Prime. She was a 1955 graduate of Bishop Hogan High School in Kansas City, Missouri. She was very athletic in high school, running track and playing softball. She had lived in Kansas City before moving to Peculiar 30 years ago. She was united in marriage to Joseph Harry Moore on November 26, 1957.
Margey was the activity director for West Side Residential in Harrisonville for 10 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Harrisonville. While a member of St. Regis Catholic Church in Kansas City, she was a volunteer activity coordinator, organizing all the catholic parishes in the Kansas City Diocese for monthly volunteers for Little Sisters of the Poor.
She loved nature and her hobbies included bird watching, gardening, horticulture and ceramics. She was a very religious lady and lived her faith. When she was unable to attend church, she enjoyed watching EWTN Catholic television. She was a great cook and baker and also made personalized greeting cards for all her family and friends.
Margey was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Joseph on April 6, 2013. She is survived by four daughters, Catherine C. Gregory (David), Conway, Arkansas, Cindy L. Stock, Peculiar, Missouri, Joell M. Moore, Peculiar, Missouri and Melinda K. Pickens (Daryl), Raymore, Missouri; one brother, Richard Prime, Hot Springs, Arkansas; 6 grandchildren, Christina, Sarina, Davey Joe, Josh, Samantha and Joelle and 5 great- grandchildren, Shawn, Tagen, Addison, Jakey and Emily.
