Margaret Jane (Smith) Eppard, 88, of Versailles, MO, formerly of Harrisonville, MO, died Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Saint Marys Health Center in Jefferson City, MO. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Harrisonville. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.
Margaret was born December 4, 1922, the daughter of James and Elvira (Hamme)Spangler. She worked for Green Thumb to help place elderly in the work force. She also tutored some of the elderly she met. Margaret took fine penmanship writing classes and had beautiful handwriting.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Spangler, her mother and stepfather, Elvira and Ira Rogers, one son, Charles Paul, her two husbands, Clyde Smith in 1980 and Clyde Eppard in 2008, one brother, Charles Spangler and two sisters, Betty Miller and Edna Sorrentino. She is survived by five sons, Keith Stevens and wife, Cynthia, Osceola, MO, Floyd Smith and wife, Marjorie, Nevada, MO, Buck Smith and wife, Gertrude, Osceola, MO, Edward Smith and wife, Mary, Warsaw, MO and Jude Smith, Harrisonville, MO; one daughter, Katheryn Kauffman and husband, Samuel, Gravois Mills, MO; 25 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
