Margaret Elizabeth Smith, 103, Harrisonville, Missouri died Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in Harrisonville. Funeral services were held Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville.  Burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.   The family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association.

Margaret was born March 20, 1915, in Jasper, MO, a daughter of Frederick and Alta Blanch (Seal) Cather.  She lived in Springfield, MO, where she graduated from high school and from Draughon Business College.  Margaret was united in marriage to Ervin Lee Smith and they moved to Harrisonville in 1951.

Margaret worked as a bookkeeper for Zollicker Hatchery in Harrisonville for three years before starting her career as a legal secretary for Shubert, Hight, and Ballew Law Firm. She retired after 40 years.  She and her husband also owned and operated the Harrisonville Music Store on the west side of the square in the mid to late 60's.  Margaret was a member of the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville.  She loved to play bridge and enjoyed trout fishing at Lake Taneycomo in Branson, MO.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ervin (May 5, 1967), two brothers, Harold and Russell, and a sister, Mildred.  She is survived by a daughter, Judy Reece, Harrisonville; 3 grandchildren, Gina (Reece) Smith, Wade Reece, and Bret Reece, all of Harrisonville; 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson.
