Margaret Marie (Sis) Crabtree, 88, Peculiar, MO, died Monday, January 7, 2008 at Saint Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, MO. Funeral services 11:00 AM Saturday, January 12 at the First Baptist Church, Peculiar, MO. Burial in Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar. Visitation 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, January 11 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Baptist Children's Home, Peculiar.
Marie was born September 17, 1919 in McClain County, Oklahoma, the daughter of Lester Ray and Carrie Mae (Hawkins) Idleman. Marie was the oldest girl of 10 children. She married Earl E. Crabtree on January 8, 1942.
Marie's life was spent caring for others as a Cub Scout leader, school bus driver, pink lady and cinnamon roll maker for all occasions. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing basketball, softball, croquet, teaching them to drive and how to cook. Two of her greatest joys were the celebration of Christmas and the 4th of July when everyone would gather at "Grandma's" and celebrate as a family. Marie joined the First Baptist Church, Peculiar, in 1954 and served in various capacities over the years, including that of Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday school teacher.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, Earl E. Crabtree and three brothers, Frank Idleman, Rudy Idleman and Lloyd Idleman. Survivors include three sons, Terry Crabtree and wife, Norma, Peculiar, MO, Gary Crabtree and wife, Cheryle, Peculiar, MO and Dale Crabtree and wife, Dennese, Archie, MO; one daughter, Pam Braden and husband, Basil, Sarcoxie, MO; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters.
