Marcia D. Southard, 96, of Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services were held at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO,  Friday, December 26, 2025.  Burial in Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Memorial contributions are suggested to KC Hospice House. 

Born on May 9, 1929, in Leeds, MO, Marcia was a cherished member of her family and community. Marcia's journey began in Leeds, and she later moved to Kansas City, MO, where she graduated with the Class of 1947 from Southeast High School. Marcia married John W. "Jack" Southard on December 21, 1947, in Kansas City, MO, and to this union they had four children. After John's passing in 2009, Marcia met and married James "Jim" Glaze on January 4, 2014.

Marcia's commitment to her work was evident during her 20 years as a Tax Examiner for the IRS, a role she held until her retirement in 1990. Marcia found her home in Harrisonville, MO, where she created a loving environment for her family. Her warmth, wisdom, and kindness touched the lives of many. Marcia's spirit will live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched as she will leave behind a legacy of compassion and strength that will endure for generations to come.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Southard, on Feb. 8, 2009; her husband, James Glaze, on Sept. 24, 2018; and her sister, Shirley Wenzel. She is survived by her children: John T. (Diane) Southard of Raymore, MO; Vicki (Mark) Pilcher of Leawood, KS; Clifford (Kelly) Southard of Dallas, TX; and Christopher (Donna Summers) Southard of Overland Park, KS; 12 grandchildren: Meghan Moore, Ryan (Courtney) Southard, Jennifer (Seth) Phillips, David (Kim) Galeski, Andrea (Jason) Galeski, Melinda (Chris) Kelly, Andrea (Jared) Percy, Mike Pilcher, Melissa Pilcher, Dylan Southard, Sydney Southard, and Emily Southard; and 10 great-grandchildren.
