Manfred Gerd Preuss, 78, of Harrisonville, MO died Friday, September 2, 2016 at Golden Years in Harrisonville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.

Manfred was born January 9, 1938 in Ostpreussen, Germany, a son of Wilhelm and Erna (Abend) Preuss. The family moved to Corder, Missouri in 1957, after being sponsored by the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. Manfred lived in the Kansas City, MO area before moving to Harrisonville in 1980.

Manfred was a machinist and assemblyman at General Motors, Leeds Assembly Plant, in Kansas City for 25 years before his retirement. He was a member of the United Auto Workers, and was an active member of the GACA German Club in Kansas City. Manfred was very active in the cycling community, and rode in races locally and also internationally.

Manfred is survived by his daughter, Andrea Preuss, Harrisonville, and a brother, Eckland Preuss, Belton, MO.
