M. W. "Dub" Martin, 77, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville. The family will receive friends 1:00-2:00 PM Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 100, Kansas City, MO 64114.

Dub was born August 7, 1930 in Watts, OK, the son of David and Lou Ella (Brown) Martin. He married Joyce Hudson on November 15, 1949.

Dub had lived in the Kansas City area since 1965. He was the owner of Dub Martin Foundation Company, Inc. and a member of the Carpenters Union in Kansas City.

Dub was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, three sisters, two brothers and a son, Mitchell W. Martin. He is survived by two sons, Melvin W. Martin of Pleasant Hill and Michael W. Martin of Greenwood, MO; three daughters, Janice M. Martin of Grandview, MO, Anita C. Martin of San Lorenzo, California and Loretta G. Martin of Alexandria, Virginia; one brother, J.C. Martin of Westville, OK; one sister, Marie Martin of Miami, OK; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
