Lula Mae Bounds, 92, Harrisonville, MO, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Golden Years Care Center in Harrisonville. Cremation. No services will be held at this time. She will be buried in Yuma, Arizona beside her husband, Cecil C. Bounds at a later date.
Lula Mae was born May 1, 1927 in Baldwin, MS, a daughter of William Garrison and Mattie Louella (Carr) Downs. She married Cecil C. Bounds on August 4, 1944 in Arkansas. Cecil was in the U. S. Navy so they lived in many places. They retired in Vallejo, CA. Cecil passed away in 1976. Lula Mae then moved to Winterhaven, CA where she lived with her sister, Mary Fleming, until her death. She met Harold Sickels in Bard, CA who became her companion until his death in January 20, 1998.
She worked in the home raising eight children. When Harold Sickels died, Lula Mae continued to live in Bard until her declining health prevented her from living alone. She moved in with her daughter, Mrs. Gladys Faye Dawson in Drexel, MO in 2008. After she was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and dementia, she moved into Golden Years Care Center until her death.
Lule Mae was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters, her husband, Cecil in 1976, her sons, Douglas, Robert, Michael and Randy and her daughters, Patsy and Dorothy Diane Bounds. She is survived by one daughter, Gladys Faye Dawson, Greenwood, MO; one son, Cecil C. Bounds, Crawfordsville, AR; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
