Lucille Powers, 70, Harrisonville, MO died Saturday, December 4, 2010 at her home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Monday, December 6 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Golden Years Christmas Party Fund.

Lucy was born February 13, 1940 in Alicia, Arkansas, the daughter of Edward and Iva (Fisher) Gibbs. She had lived in the Kansas City area before moving to Harrisonville in 1972.

Lucy was united in marriage to Edward L. Powers on May 27, 1976 in Harrisonville. She was a gifted artist who spent many hours creating beautiful art work as gifts. She was blessed to have spent a lot of time with her grandson, Josh, before he reached school age and continued to enjoy a close relationship with him as he grew into adulthood. Lucy was privileged to share the home of her daughter and son-in-law for many years.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Edward on May 19, 2002. She is survived by one daughter, Carol Stafford and her husband, Darrin, Harrisonville, MO; one sister, Wanda Smith, Kansas City, MO; one grandson, Joshua Stafford and his fianceé, Kelsie, Harrisonville, MO; a great-granddaughter, Kaylyn; one niece, Katherine Binny, Independence, MO; two nephews, Terry Smith, Independence, MO and Eddie Smith, Madison, WI and a host of friends and family. Lucy touched many lives by showing Christian love, hospitality and generosity to all who met her. She was a precious soul who will be forever missed.
