Obituary

Loretta Marie "Mee Ma" Brown, 78, Harrisonville, MO, died Friday, December 26, 2008 at the Country Club Care Center of Warrensburg, Warrensburg, MO. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville with visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Harrisonville.

Loretta was born September 28, 1930 in Goldsboro, Texas, the daughter of Charley R. and Nutie Inez (Speaks) Burgen. She married William "Bill" Franklin Brown December 7, 1946 in Sandia, Texas, on Pearl Harbor Day.

Loretta was a homemaker. She had lived in Falfurrias and Alice, Texas before moving to Harrisonville in 1985.

Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, William Franklin Brown on June 1, 1992, her parents, stepmother, Winona Burgen; three sisters, Lola Mae Winters, Alice Moore, and Martha Turner; two brothers, Newton Burgen and Jack Lutman. She is survived by one son, Ret. A.F. Colonel James Edward Brown and his wife, Melissa, Ft. Worth, Texas; one daughter, Elaine Mifflin and her husband, David, Warrensburg, Missouri; grandson, U.S. Marine Corp, 1st Sgt. James S. Brown and his wife, Nicki, Pearl Harbor City, Hawaii; granddaughter, Cathrine R. Brown, Longmont, Colorado; grandson, Sheldon L. Mifflin and his wife, Stephanie, Warsaw, Missouri; grandson, Travis J. Mifflin, Warrensburg, Missouri; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Winnie Viar, Harrisonville, Missouri and Nettie Bates, Hughes Springs, Texas; two brothers, Darrell Burgen, Russellville, Arkansas and Bruce Burgen, Flowery Branch, Georgia; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
