Lola B. Aldridge Wingate Owenby, 97, Peculiar, Missouri, died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at her home. Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 with visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri.
Lola was born June 8, 1917 in Iona, South Dakota, the daughter of Emil and Ethel (Muckey) Peterson. Her mother died when she was just a year old and she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Andy and Jennie Farmer. Lola was a 1935 graduate of Center High School in Kansas City, Missouri. She married William Aldridge in 1935 and had two sons, William Aldridge, Jr. and Charles P. Aldridge, who died in 1944.
Lola had worked as a teller at the Goppert Bank in Kansas City and also worked as a school bus driver for the Osawatomie, Kansas School District. She was a care giver for most of her life and had worked for Elder Care. She was a nanny and a babysitter to many children over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Charles, one brother, three sisters, her husband, William, and her second husband, George. She is survived by one son, William F. Aldridge, Jr., Peculiar, Missouri; 7 grandchildren, Debbie Linton, Barbie Gleviano, David Aldridge, Duane Aldridge, Valerie Rinehart, Antoniette Aldridge and Kimberly Aldridge; 25 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren.
