Lois Marie Day, 93, of Archie, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. A visitation and funeral service for Lois was held Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.  Burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, MO.

Born on January 16, 1933, in Archie, Lois was the beloved daughter of Leroy and Bessie Louise (Easterla) Atkinson. A lifelong resident of her beloved town, she graduated from Archie High School in 1951, carrying with her the values of hard work and dedication that would shape her life.

On May 23, 1952, Lois united in marriage to Charlie William Day, and together they built a life filled with love and community service. In 1966, they purchased the local drug store, later renamed Day's Sundries and eventually the Whirlwind Stop in 1978, serving their community with pride and commitment. Lois also devoted 25 years to the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1992, after which she continued to serve as an integral part of the Atkinson Funeral Home alongside Charlie, where they provided support to many families during their times of need.

Lois was a devoted member of the Archie First Baptist Church, where her strong faith and kindness resonated deeply. Her love for her family was evident as she seldom missed a sporting event or activity for her grandchildren, where she cheered enthusiastically, embodying the unwavering support and warmth that defined her role as a matriarch.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie, on June 22, 2007; a brother, Robert; and two sisters, Nadine and Wilma. She is survived by two daughters: Vickie (Wayne) Sutton of Archie, MO; and Debbie (Mike) Flowers of Ada, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Derrick (Mallory) Sutton and Ryan Sutton; eight great-grandchildren: Dylan, Kaden, Alyssa, Jordan, Hunter, Ava, Grayson, and Easton; her niece, Donene (Larry) Cantrell; and many other friends and family. Her unwavering spirit and love for her family will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew her.
