Lois Lucille Cumpton was born on February 2, 1940 in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, the daughter of Jessie and Julia "Lucille" (Lacy) Terry. She spent her growing up years in Harrisonville and Clinton, Missouri. She attended elementary and middle schools in Harrisonville. Lois married James "Edgar" Cumpton on November 9, 1963 and together they raised five children. She was a hard-working farm wife who loved and cared deeply for her family. Raising a farm family was not always easy, but always entertaining and a blessing; and she always ensured her family was well cared for.
Lois was a great cook. Her children's favorites were her fried chicken, homemade noodles and gravy and no-bake chocolate drop cookies. Lois enjoyed watching her children grow, starting families of their own, and she loved her grandchildren. Lois enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; some of her favorites were getting letters from friends, purple iris flowers, visiting, bingo, family and the feeling of being loved.
Lois lived at Butler Medicalodge the last few years and appreciated their care and hospitality, especially the social events, getting her hair and nails done, and the staff's willingness to visit. She was a member of Altona Baptist Church, Adrian, Missouri. Lois was a very caring and loving person who will be missed by a host of family and friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, John Henry Terry and Milford Lee Terry and one son, James "Jim" Edwin Ashford Cumpton.
