L.D. was born October 24, 1928 to Carless Alfred Paul and Veda Mae (Davis) Paul in Stet, Missouri he was the 3rd of 6 children. At a young age L. D. left school to start work to help support the family. He began a 22 year career at Sears & Roebuck starting on the loading dock and working up to a shipping supervisor. While at Sears he met Marilyn Margaret McDaniel whom he married on February 13, 1949. They were blessed with three children, Rose Marie, Carolyn Sue and Thomas Edward.
As a young boy growing up his family lived on rented farms and he would visit his grandparents and Aunt & Uncle who lived on farms. He always wanted to be a farmer. When he got a Palomino colt from his uncle and then bought 7 cows Marilyn frustratingly reminded him they lived in Grandview in a housing division not on a farm! In no time he found a farm in Archie, Missouri. In 1963 the family and livestock moved to a farm. He worked at Sears for another 5 years while building up the livestock and row cropping. When L.D. retired they built 2 chicken houses for 30,000 layers. Over the years many "city" friends, family or local town kids came to visit or stay the summer to fish, ride horses and help with the chores. While farming L.D. was a member of the Missouri Beef Council and the Missouri Egg Producers. As a representative of the Egg Producers he made a trip to Trinidad and Tobago to help them learn about raising chickens.
L.D. never met a stranger. He was always involved in some sport, slow pitch softball, bowling, and golf making friends and playing pranks on all his friends. When he could no longer participate himself he enjoyed going and watching the young kids play sports.
L.D. was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 65 years, Marilyn, two sisters, Rose Marie Paul, Emma Evylen (Paul) Stevinson, one bother Gary Lee Paul, and one granddaughter Kira Pauline Divine.
