Linda Jean Kurzweil, 62, Garden City, MO, died Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at her home. Memorial services were held Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.  Memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Care Hospice.

Linda was born February 12, 1955, the daughter of Robert L. and Mildred M. (VanDerVeer) Marsh in Dr. Cooper's office in her hometown of Villisca, Iowa. Linda attended elementary school at the Lincoln School building and finished the duration of her high school at Nodaway, Iowa, 6 miles away. Linda was proud to achieve the honor of never missing a day of school from kindergarten through her senior year. Linda was quite active during her high school year, participating in numerous activities, such as concert band, stage band, marching band, chorus, Girls Glee, Y-Teens, Drama Club, basketball, and several others. After graduating from high school in 1973, Linda attended CMSU on a music academic scholarship, and later received her diploma Magna Cum Laude. She played trumpet for the "Marching Mules" marching band at CMSU, and played at other well known venues, including Arrowhead Stadium.

After college Linda moved to Harrisonville and took a position as activity director at ABC nursing home. This position allowed her to meet lots of people and spread her love and care to the residents there. After moving to Harrisonville, Linda was introduced to Jim Kurzweil and a love story began. They married on August 29, 1981 in Harrisonville. They built a family together that included three children, Chris, John, and Jessica, and later three grandchildren, Brielle, Caden, and Ava, which Linda adored and loved spending time with.

Linda touched the lives of all that knew her and loved meeting new faces. She could often be found at Kurzweils' meats, where she would be the first to help a customer with their every request. She also helped with bookwork and day to day operations.

Linda's favorite activities were spending time with her grandkids, sewing, and she also loved going to Arizona in the winters and spending time with close friends. Anyone who knew Linda could tell you, she was a very giving person. Whether it was what you wanted to hear or not, she would always give you her honest, uncut opinion. Full of compassion and love, Linda touched the hearts of so many people, and for this she will never be forgotten.

Linda is survived by her husband, James M. Kurzweil of the home; sons, John N. Kurzweil, Garden City and James C. Kurzweil, Harrisonville; daughter, Jessica L. Kurzweil, Lee's Summit, MO; grandkids, Brielle, Caden, and Ava Kurzweil; her parents, Robert L. and Mildred M Marsh, Villisca, IA; siblings, Susan L. Marsh Narigon, Monroe, IA, Robert Marsh, Clarinda, IA, Tammy Marsh Hill, Denver, CO.
