Obituary

Linda K. Baker, 69, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville. Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with visitation after service, from 5:30-7:30. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Crossroads Hospice.

Linda was born March 30, 1946 in Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Kenneth and Margaret (Fritz) Cumings. She grew up in Chanute and was a 1964 graduate of Chanute High School. She lived in Chanute for 25 years before moving to Humboldt, Kansas where she lived for six
years. She then lived in Richland, Washington for a year before moving to Harrisonville, where she has lived for the last 37 years. Linda worked as a drive-thru teller at the Allen Bank for many years and at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center until her retirement in 2013.

Linda's favorite things were spending time with her three grandsons, watching them participate in sports and other activities. She was known as "Team Grandma" to her grandkids and their teammates. She is best known for her baking and providing baked goods to her family, friends and co-workers. Linda was incredibly talented, not only as a cook/baker (no pun intended), but also as a seamstress, quilter and crocheter. She used these talents to provide items for all of her loved ones. Linda will always be remembered for her loving, generous, and giving spirit.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by one son, Brian Baker and wife, Jeanette, Harrisonville, Missouri; one sister, Eileen Stuart and husband Kent, Warsaw, Missouri; one brother, Charles Cumings, Moline, Kansas; 3 grandsons, Kenny, Ronny, and Tommy Baker; 2 nieces and one nephew.
