Liam A. Fay, 71, Peculiar, MO, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Shawnee Mission, KS. Funeral services 12:00 noon Saturday, June 30 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Harrisonville, MO. Visitation 10:00 AM-12:00 noon Saturday, with rosary at 11:30 AM at the church. Burial in Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, MO. Contributions may be made to the church or to the American Cancer Society.
Liam was born April 10, 1936 in Castletown-Finea, County Westmeath, Ireland, the son of Nicholas and Kathleen (Briody) Fay. Liam was born and raised in Ireland. He lived in Jefferson City, MO before moving to Kansas City, MO and then to Peculiar.
Liam attended Castletown National School, St. Patrick's College and received a BA in Philosophy from the University College of Dublin, graduating in 1957. He also received a degree in Theology from All Hallows College in Dublin.
Liam owned Fay Realtors in Peculiar for 17 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Harrisonville, a member of Knights of Columbus and a Hibernian. He had been a Boy Scout leader while living in Jefferson City.
Liam was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; one brother, Oliver Fay and his wife, Mary, Mullingar, Ireland; two sisters, Angela Brady and her husband, Tommy, County Cavan, Ireland and Maura Norton, Dublin, Ireland; four brothers-in-law, Donald Brandel and his wife, Becky, Bill Brandel and his wife, Marian, Ed Brandel and his wife, Chris and Jerry Brandel; one sister-in-law, Martha Dudenhoeffer and her husband, Phil and many nieces and nephews.
