Leslie Franklin "Frank" Britton, 92, Peculiar, MO, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at his home. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the First Church of Peculiar in Peculiar, MO with burial in Peculiar Cemetery.
Frank was born April 27, 1925 in Peculiar, MO, the son of Leslie and Lula (King) Britton. He was a U.S. Naval Air Corp veteran. He learned how to fly planes and was ready to go but thankfully the war ended before he was sent off. Frank married Ruth Alma Ilse on January 30, 1948, and had just celebrated their 70 th anniversary.
Frank worked for Richard Gebaur Air Force Base for 30 years. He also owned and operated the family farm, which had belonged to his grandfather and has been in the family for over 100 years.
Frank was a member of the Methodist Church in Peculiar. He loved to fish and had belonged to the "Bass Club" when he was younger. Frank had traveled to the Arctic Circle in Alaska with Harold Ensley and had appeared on his show occasionally.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, three half-brothers, and one half-sister. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of the home; two daughters, Alma Wiles, Belton, MO, and Joan Horner (Gary), Belton, MO; 4 grandchildren, Ruth White, Lesley Marino (Dominic), Kacey Robling (Kyle), and Karly Furtaw, and 5 great-grandchildren, Isaac White, Kennedy and Korinne Moss, and Jacob and Justen Robling.
