Leroy Butler, 88, Harrisonville, MO, died Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 2, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Harrisonville. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 1 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Leroy was born June 2, 1921 in Hulbert, OK, the son of Veachel and Novellar Kate (Terry) Butler. He married Dolores June Kendall on March 19, 1949 in Shawnee, OK. They lived in Cushing, OK before moving to Harrisonville in 1961.

Leroy worked for the Amoco Oil Pipeline in Freeman, MO for 38 years before his retirement. He also helped his sons with the farming and cattle operations. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Harrisonville and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Veachel Butler and Glen Avis Butler, one infant sister and his wife, Dolores, on October 13, 2001. He is survived by two sons, Kenneth L. Butler and his wife, Georgann, and Larry J. Butler and his wife, Abbie, all of Harrisonville, MO; one daughter, Lanita K. Myler and her husband, Danny, of Harrisonville, MO; one brother, Harold K. Butler of Cushing, OK; four grandchildren, Heather Barber, Justin Butler, Haley Butler and Bethany Butler and three great-grandchildren, Kelly, Venessa and Dakota Butler.
