Obituary

Leota M. "Billie" Hooper Utterback, 87, of Adrian, MO died Friday, March 26, 2010 at the Adrian Manor, Adrian. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Cremation. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 2400 Troost Ave, Suite 4300, Kansas City, MO 64108 or to Children's Mercy Hospital, Attn: Donations, 2401 Gillham Road, Kansas City, MO 64108.

Billie was born January 4, 1923 in Ballard, MO to Alva and Nettie (Worden) Hooper. She later moved to Adrian where she graduated from High School in 1940. She attended Templemans Beauty School in Kansas City, MO and upon graduation was later employed at the Plaza Beauty Salon in Kansas City, MO. In 1944 she moved back to Adrian and worked at Goldie's Beauty Shop in Butler, MO. There she met Richard Utterback and after an eighteen month courtship, was married, and they were together 48 years before his death in June 1992.

Billie and Richard were avid golfers and were past members of Milburn Country Club, Overland Park, KS and Twin Pines Country Club in Harrisonville, MO. They really enjoyed playing golf together. Billie loved competition and was Women's Club Champion several times at both Country Clubs.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard, a great-grandson, Mitchel McKee, three sisters, Mary Maas, Alice Rinehart, and Daisy Derks and two brothers Albert Hooper and Richard Hooper. She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Wray and her husband Charles of Menifee, CA; one son, Richard Utterback III of Adrian, MO; two brothers, Jack Hooper of Raytown, MO and Ken Hooper of Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren, Christine McKee and her husband Timothy and Shannon Maurisak and her husband Jeffrey; and four great grandchildren, Max and Maggie McKee and Haleigh and Liam Maurisak.
