Leo Edward "Ed" Moravec, Jr., 76, Harrisonville, MO, passed away Friday, July 24, 2020, in Derby, Kansas. Memorial graveside services were held Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville.
Ed was born August 14,1943 at Concordia, KS to Leo E. Moravec and Vivian (Zugmier) Moravec. Ed grew up and attended school in Harrisonville, MO, was a 1961 graduate of Harrisonville High School, and had a Master's Degree in math & education from Central Missouri State College at Warrensburg, MO.
He taught school for many years at Hannibal, MO and after retiring, worked for Wells Fargo as an armed security guard at Overland Park State bank (now UMB) and later at Sprint in Overland Park. In his younger years his hobbies involved hunting, and beating friends and family at chess. Later he secured his HAM radio operators license and spent time on the air waves.
He is survived by his brother, Rodney Moravec (Lynda) of Mulvane, KS, two nieces, Lisa (Aaron) Waller of Wichita, KS, Jennifer (Jade) Hopkins of Derby, KS and five great nephews, Andrew and Allyn Waller, Tanner, Conner and Parker Hopkins.
