Obituary

Leah Rebekah Flanery, 83, Butler, MO, formerly of Harrisonville, MO, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022 at The Arbors at Glendale Gardens in Clinton, MO.  Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO, followed by burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City, MO.

Leah was born December 1, 1938 in Mina, South Dakota, the ninth child of eleven, to Alfred S. and Nora (Bradley) Walberg.  She had lived in Kansas, south Missouri, and Licking, MO, before moving to Bemidji, Minnesota and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1957.  After graduation, she moved to Kansas City, MO.  Leah married Larry Wayne Flanery February 20, 1960 in Miami, OK.  She worked for Torotel Products in Grandview, MO for 27 years before retiring in December, 2000.  They lived on the Flanery family farm just outside of Harrisonville, MO from 1965-2001, when they moved to their home in Butler, MO.

Leah was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Larry, October 27, 2004; two sons, Kyle, April 20, 1985, and Tim, on July 4, 2006; nine brothers and sisters, a nephew, who was raised as a brother, Lloyd Walberg, and one great-grandson.  She is survived by one daughter, Laura Wheeldon, Lowry City, MO; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Pansey "Dee" Bond, Mountain View, MO, and several nieces and nephews.
