Laura M. Wolfe, 95, of Adrian, MO passed away Monday, January 8th, 2007, at Bates County Memorial Hospital, Butler, MO. Funeral services were held January 12, at the Atkinson Chapel, Adrian, officiated by Brother Alan Black, Butler, MO. Music by Susan Lundquist. Casket bearers were Alan Lundquist, Greg Lundquist, Shawn Shipley, Kevin Black, Earl Muiller and Randy Gregory. Burial was in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Contributions may be made to Adrian United Methodist Church.
Laura was born September 7, 1911 near Adrian, MO, the youngest of six children. She attended the Buckhorn School in Bates County, Missouri. On February 4, 1933, Laura was united in marriage to George Wolfe, taking up residence on a farm located near the Adrian area. At the time of her marriage, a local columnist, Flora Bollings, wrote that George had stolen Mel Askew's youngest chick. Mr. and Mrs. Wolfe later left the farm and moved into the town of Adrian. Laura was a member of the Jolly Dozens Club and the Adrian United Methodist Church.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Luvenia and Mel Askew and her husband, Mr. George Wolfe. She is survived by two nieces, Zola Lee Horstman of Mayer, AZ, Savilla Lou Lundquist and her husband, Duane, Independence, MO, Etha Pearl Black, Butler, MO, wife of Donald Dean Black (nephew, deceased); two great-nieces, Donna Gregory and Diane Steinkuler; four great-nephews, Alan Lundquist, Greg Lundquist, Alan Black and Kevin Black.
