Laura Emily (Rosanbalm) Kohler, 91, Kansas City, Missouri, died Monday, March 7, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with visitation from 1:00-2:00. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice House.
Laura was born September 17, 1924 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, the daughter of Jasper and Orpha Alzaday (Collinsworth) Rosanbalm. She married Guy Franklin Kohler on January 15, 1944. Laura was a life-long Cass County, Missouri resident. She worked for Western Electric for 20 years before retiring in 1985.
Laura was a member of the First Christian Church in Harrisonville and helped organize the women's Optimist Club in Harrisonville. She loved wintering in Verde West, Arizona and going to Winter Park, Colorado to ski. She loved to travel and had been on many canoe trips. She enjoyed quilting, playing Bingo and card games. Laura loved the Kansas City Royals and had attended the very first game that was played at Royals Stadium. She continued to watch her Royals as they continued their progress throughout the years and finally "taking the crown" at the World Series last season. She watched every game, even when she had to get right up close to her television to see, and even stayed up through the 14 inning games. She was an avid Royals fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Guy on March 15, 1996, one son, Guy "Frank" Kohler and one daughter, Laura Suzanne Pusch. She is survived by one son, Gary Kohler (Yolanda), Lenexa, Kansas; one daughter, Marilyn Curtis (E. Glion), Westwood Hills, Kansas; her son-in-law, John Pusch, Lenexa, Kansas; 6 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
