Laura Lee Dorrell, 81 of Belton, MO, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville, MO. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, November 2 at the chapel. Burial will be in Osceola Cemetery in Osceola, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Community Church, P.O. Box 600, Harrisonville, MO 64701.
Laura was born September 16, 1928 at the home place near Roscoe, MO the second to the youngest of eight children, to Russell Harrison and Mary Ermine (Thomas) Starner. She married Leo Redman Dorrell on May 14, 1946.
Laura was a member of Cornerstone Community Church in Harrisonville. She was baptized, by faith in Jesus Christ, on February 10, 1957. She was a volunteer at Research Belton Hospital and the Pregnancy Crisis Center in Harrisonville. Laura had worked for the I.R.S. and the G.S.A.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leo, on September 12, 1993, one brother, Loyd and four sisters, Gladys, Loree, Bessie and Ruth and one grandson, Joshua Brandon Murphy on January 29, 2008. She is survived by one son, James Douglas Dorrell and his wife, Lisa of Creighton, MO; one daughter, Mary Lee Dorrell of Warrenville, IL; two sisters, Bertha Deakins and her husband, Bill, of Belton, MO and Irene Bonner of Reedley, CA; 5 grandchildren, Michael Todd Legorreta, Julie Lynne Legorreta-King, Matthew Ryan Legorreta, Tiffany Renee Dorrell-Settles and Courtney Danielle Dorrell; 18 great-grandchildren and other cherished children.
