Obituary

Laura Beth Casaert, 21, Freeman, MO, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO with burial in Freeman Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Chain of Hope KC (animal rescue).
Laura was born October 10, 1995 in Overland Park, KS, the daughter of John and Susan (Hoback) Casaert. Laura graduated from Cass Midway R-I in 2014 and then attended Pittsburg State University for one year. Laura grew up in the Methodist church and confirmed her faith in Christ at the Harrisonville United Methodist Church. She loved her time on church mission trips and at Camp Galilee where she enjoyed all the fun and spiritual growth at church camp.

Laura was chosen to be a People to People Ambassador in 2010 and spent time traveling in Europe and participating in educational activities that immersed her in the different cultures of Ireland, Wales, Belgium, and France.

Laura - "Sponge" to her Dad - was always happy when joking and spending time with him. Together they enjoyed turkey and deer hunting, fishing, target shooting, archery, and making each other laugh! Laura loved all kinds of animals – ducks, bunnies, dogs, cats – and any animal that she (or Dad!) brought home was welcomed and quickly became part of the family.
Laura - "Suggie Bear" to her Mom - enjoyed movies and shopping (particularly when Mom was buying!). Laura loved the holidays and together with her mom and her sister, Kaitlynn, she enjoyed an annual drive to see the Christmas lights and decorations around Kansas City and a stop or two for hot chocolate!

Laura enjoyed spending time with her big sister, Kaitlynn. Together they loved just hanging out to talk, eat, watch movies, and taking car rides to the mall. They shared many inside jokes taken from silly movie lines or things that they had overheard on their adventures. They shared a love of animals and of exploring the land that they called home.

Laura was preceded in death by her paternal Grandpa and Grandma, Harry J. and Dorothy Louise (Cox) Casaert, and by her paternal aunt, Judith Kay Casaert. She is survived by her parents, John Robert and Susan Kay (Hoback) Casaert; her beloved sister, Kaitlynn Nicole Casaert, along with her maternal grandparents, Paul Edward and Nelda Lee (Brenton) Hoback, and aunts and uncles, Pamela Joanne (Hoback) & Brett Leslie Wood, Sarah Beth (Hoback) and Curtis Neal Jones, Bradley Paul and Karissa Jo (Rowland) Hoback, and Curtis Lee Hoback; and her loving cousins, Kevin Paul Hoback, Heather Michelle Hoback, and Rachel Lynn Hoback.

Laura was a beautiful, caring, giving, and compassionate soul who is greatly missed.
