LaRita Joy Shipley, 83, Adrian, MO, died Sunday, February 19, 2017 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, February 24 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO with burial in Memory Garden in Richmond, MO. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.

LaRita was born August 27, 1933 in Osborne, KS, the daughter of Cecil Morgan and Alice Marie (Travis) Marr. She married Charles A. Shipley on June 30, 1951. LaRita was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Adrian and the Victory Assembly of God in Adrian. She was a homemaker.

LaRita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles on March 15, 1987, and one sister, Evelyn Williams. She is survived by one daughter, JoOnna Wood (Don), Peculiar, MO; 5 grandchildren, LaDona Anne Shipley, Adrian, MO, Douglas Arlan Wood (Grace), Belton, MO, Kathryn Michele Schmitz (Nathan), Vail, AZ, Whitley Rose Wood, and Matthew Charles Wood, both of Peculiar, MO, and 3 great-grandchildren, Eliana Josephine Schmitz, Heath Augustus Fields, Nataly Joy Wood, and one on the way, Remington LeRoy Mills.
