Lana was born March 10, 1963 in North Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Dickie Gene and Lenora Maxine (Meech) Downey. Her father preceded her in death in 1992. Lana lived at Lake Waukomis and Tiffany Springs while growing up, graduating from Park Hill High School in 1981. During high school and after her graduation, she ran her own cleaning company and continued doing so while she attended dental assistant school. She worked as a dental assistant for 8 years, then started working for UPS and the Aviation Department. In 1989, she changed careers to work for TWA in the overhaul base in Kansas City as an airplane mechanic and was employed there until her medical retirement.
She loved to spend time at the lake where she was an active member of the Big Lake Improvement Association. She enjoyed socializing with her friends and family, playing with her dog, reading and learning new information. In her short life, Lana touched the hearts of many individuals in every facet of her life. She never judged anyone by any scale—people were people and she loved them all. She never knew a stranger and never had an enemy. Lana loved life and loved loving people. She has spent her whole life taking care of others. "She was a Good Person."
