L Denzil (Denny) Porter was born December 16, 1935 in Corvallis, Oregon the son of Lester and Golda Porter.  He departed this life on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at the age of 86.

Denny, or Papa as he is known to close family and friends, grew up with dogs, horses and even a pet bear.  On December 20, 1959 he was united in marriage to Judith (Judy) Margie Porter.

After fulfilling his commitment to the Navy in 1963 and graduating from Oregon State with a degree in Animal Husbandry, he taught vocational agriculture. He then went on to work for John Deere Company where he retired in 1992 after 25 years. During retirement he enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball, hunting, fishing and camping on the Oregon coast.  He also loved spending time with his dogs Bo and Izzy.

Denny is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Judy Porter. He is survived by daughter, Tani Miles and husband, Kenny, of Lone Jack, MO; son, Terry Porter and wife, Susan, of Freeman, MO; grandchildren: Amanda Toft-Murphy, Eric Toft, Michael Porter and wife, Theresa, Christine Webster and husband, Grant; and great grandchildren: Jadyn, Jared, Jacob and Sophie.

Cremation is planned with a private memorial service later.  In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to your local Wayside Waifs or the Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition.
