Kris Allen Speer, 49, Peculiar, Missouri, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Belton Regional Medical Center in Belton, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville, MO. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at the chapel.
Kris was born July 31, 1962 in Harrisonville, MO, the son of Donald and Nora Matilda (Brewster) Speer. He was a 1981 graduate of Harrisonville High School, where he met his future wife, Margaret Ann Cox. They married on November 27, 1982 in Harrisonville. He had lived in Warrensburg, MO before moving to Peculiar.
Kris was a 20 year U. S. Air Force veteran, retiring in 2007. He worked for the Social Security Administration as a Teleservice Representative in Kansas City, MO. Kris was a member of the Freeman Baptist Church in Freeman, MO, former member of the Warrensburg Booster Club and the American Legion. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and could accomplish anything he set his mind to do.
Kris was preceded in death by his mother, Matilda Speer. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Margaret, of the home; two sons, Brandon Allen Speer and Austin Lee Speer and his wife, Megan, all of Peculiar, MO; his father, Donald Speer and his wife, Pat, Harrisonville, MO; one brother, Kenny Speer and his wife, Brenda, Harrisonville, MO; one sister, Karla Jones and her husband, Jim, Harrisonville, MO; two grandchildren, Gavin Allen Speer and Alyssa Ann Speer and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
