Kenneth Allen Hintz, 63, of Lee's Summit, MO, formerly of Harrisonville, MO, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014 at St. Luke's East Hospital in Lee's Summit, MO. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, May 5, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville, MO. The family will receive friends 1:00-2:00 pm Monday, May 5, 2014 at the church. Contributions may be made to the Harrisonville United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
Kenneth was born December 1, 1950 in Antigo, Wisconsin, a son of Reuben and Helen (Keeper) Hintz. Ken grew up in the Antigo area and was a 1968 graduate of Antigo High School. Ken received his Associate Degree from Concordia College in Milwaukee, WI in 1970; his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1972 from Concordia Senior College in Ft. Wayne, IN and his Masters of Divinity Degree from Christ Seminary "Concordia Seminary in Exile" in St. Louis, MO in 1974. Always the educator and teacher, Ken became the Director of the OK House and taught Philosophy for ten years at North Iowa Community College in Mason City, IA. Ken accepted the position as State Priest for the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Harrisonville in 1986, a position he held for five years. He became involved in counseling and therapy, providing services for Harrisonville and Cass County. He also served as a Family Specialist for the Juvenile Division of the 17
th
Judicial Circuit Court for a number of years. Ken went on to become the Director Of Career Services for Pinnacle Career Institute, and finally The Director of the Addiction Recovery Program at Truman Medical Center – Lakewood in Kansas City, MO. Ken was united in marriage to Janice L. Wiedow, on October 19, 1985 in Raymore, MO. Ken attended the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville.
Ken was preceded in death by his father, Reuben, and his uncle Jim Hintz. He is survived by his wife, Jan Hintz, of the home; three daughters, Jessica Hintz of Springfield, MO, Rachel Whitaker and husband, Justin, of Lenexa, KS, and Amber Scherrer, and husband, Dave, of Shawnee Mission, KS; his mother, Helen Hintz, of Antigo, WS; two brothers, Kurt Hintz, and wife, Wendy, of Hartford,WS, and Keith Hintz, and wife, Sharon, of Antigo,WS; and four grandchildren, Audrey, Elizabeth, Beckett, and Elin.
