Obituary

Kenneth "Kenny" Wayne Danforth, Sr., 75, Harrisonville, MO, died Monday, January 16, 2012 at his home after losing his battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Harrisonville. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Kenny was born October 27, 1936 in Sugar Creek, MO, the son of Clarence John and Thelma Leona (Wall) Danforth. They moved to Harrisonville when he was four years old and he was a lifelong Harrisonville resident. He attended the Harrisonville Public Schools. He went to work for Leslie's Complete Service at the age of 12 at the original location at 1801 South Commercial. By age 22 he owned and operated that business as Kenny's Service. After over 20 years at the South Commercial location, he built and operated his current shop on East Outer Road. He worked at this location for over 30 more years. Kenny was baptized at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church when he was 33.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Clarence J. and Jimmie F. Danforth and one son, Clarence Ray Danforth. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris Ann Danforth; two sons, Kenneth Wayne Danforth, Jr. and Harold Eugene Danforth and two daughters, Roberta "Bert" Danforth-Erisman and Ron Erisman and Connie Leann Danforth-Brakebill, all of Harrisonville, MO; grandchildren, Travis and Michelle Mickelberry, Steven Danforth, Rickey Green, Jamilee Sheffer, Brooke Dickerson, Kenneth Strutton, Jeremy Strutton, Christian Allega, Chelsea McDaniel and River Erisman; great-grandchildren, Raigen Mickelberry, Brycen Mickelberry, Dakoda Rei Allen, Ayden Allen, Jacqueline Sheffer and Charlie Sheffer.

Kenny has expressed his thanks to all of his drivers, his many friends and everyone in this community for their business over the years. Kenny and his family appreciate each and every one of you. Special thanks to Crossroads Hospice. Kenny will live forever in our hearts, with Jesus and his son, Clarence.
