Kenneth "Joe" Byrl Downey, 96, Harrisonville, MO, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018.  Graveside services were held Tuesday, August 28 at Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville, MO.

Joe was born June 20, 1922 to Walter and May Rose (Loyd) Downey in Sumner Missouri.  He was a WWII veteran and served with the U.S. Navy.  Joe was a Christian by faith.  He was a truck driver for 25 years for Safeway Foods, retiring 36 years ago.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife Jan, his son Gary Downey, son Mike Downey, daughter Karen Sue House, daughter, Gena Simpson, and 7 brothers and 4 sisters.  He is survived by his daughter Patty (Roy) Wagener, Grain Valley, MO; two sons Corey Mead and Jerry Mead (Cathy), all of Adrian, MO; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
