Kay E. Ray, 85, of Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 24, 2026, in Harrisonville. A visitation and  an Eastern Star Service were held Thursday, January 29, 2026 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Funeral services were held  Friday, January 30, 2026, at the funeral home. Burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fair Grove, MO. 

Kay was born on January 18, 1941, in Kansas City, MO, a daughter of Karl and Charlotte (Buhrmaster) Fischer. She spent her early years in Harrisonville and was a 1959 graduate of Harrisonville High School. Kay was united in marriage to Andrew "Andy" Johnson Ray on April 1, 1961, in Kansas City, MO. They made their home in Kansas City before moving to Harrisonville in 1970. 

Kay started working at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City right out of high school and retired in 1999 after 40 years of dedicated service. She was very active in the community, attending the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and later, the Grace Christian Tabernacle, both in Harrisonville. She was involved with the Harrisonville Rainbow Girls Assembly # 36, serving as Mother Advisor and on the Rainbow Advisory Board , a member of the White Shrine and was a member and served many years as Worthy Matron of Bayard Chapter #179, Order of Eastern Star. 

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andy, on January 26, 2013; a brother, George Fischer; and a sister, Carol McMahon. She is survived by two sons: Andrew J. Ray, Drexel, MO; and Kevin B. Ray, Columbia, MO; two brothers: Robert Tobey, Sanford, FL; and Karl Fischer Jr., Carlisle, England; two sisters: Barbara Whittington, Harrisonville, MO; and Connie Fischer, Kansas City, MO; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
