Obituary

Julie Anne Kostuke passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025, in the care of Heartland Hospice, surrounded by the love of her family and her strong belief in God, in her home state of Missouri. A Memorial Visitation was held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri.

Julie was born on April 19, 1961 to Gary and Dorothy (Smith) Kostuke. Julie was raised in the Harrisonville area with her three siblings: Kathy, Gary II, and Greg, who she loved very much. Julie would say one of the best gifts God gave her was her sister, Kathy, and the close bond they shared throughout life. Julie was also very watchful over her little brothers, Gary II and Greg, and very proud of them. She loved spending time with her brothers on family trips and all the memories made at the Lake of The Ozarks. Julie was very close to her parents and could be found shopping with her mom till midnight or outdoors with her dad enjoying the wildlife.

Julie started her own family having Janyale and Jerry II. She loved her children very much, from participating in things like the Log Cabin Festival Baby Contest to making sure she got off work in time for Prom pictures, to being Mother of the Bride and Groom when her children got married. Julie was always there making special memories.

Julie also will be missed by her loving partner of over 20 years, Patrick. Julie and Patrick met through their love of the casino life. They lived many different places like New Orleans, Baltimore, and Las Vegas; having great adventures together. Julie and Patrick loved spending time outdoors fishing at Trout Hollow Lodge and traveling to places like New York to see the Christmas Window Display at Macy's or the many trips making many memories together in Old Las Vegas.

Grandma Julie also was adored by her four grandsons: Jack, Vincent, Nicolai, and Ethan. Grandma Julie made sure to be there when they were all born. Grandma Julie took the boys on great adventures from Washington DC to a Baltimore Orioles game, to holding baby alligators on a swamp tour in New Orleans, to walking the New Jersey Boardwalk at the Beach and even Hershey Pennsylvania Chocolate Factory and so many more. Grandma Julie also was known to watch a SpongeBob Squarepants Marathon when needed for her boys.

Julie also loved her hometown football wherever she lived; however, the KC Chiefs were her first team of course, followed by the Ravens and Saints, and she went to as many football games as possible through the years. Julie also had a special place in her heart and was a proud Aunt to all her nieces and nephews, always attending birthday parties, graduations and weddings.

Julie loved life and to have fun, always wanting to make sure everyone was included in whatever fantastic memory she was making at the time. Julie's smile and laugh were always contagious. Julie was also strong in her faith with God. She treasured going to Mass with her mother, Dorothy, and walked by faith and courage throughout her life. Julie will be missed by so many; however, her amazing love she gave us all remains.

Julie was preceded in death by her father, Gary Kostuke; her nephew, Brandon Beckham; and her sister-in-law, Amy Kostuke. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Kostuke; her loving partner, Patrick Chan; her children: Janyale (Matt) Goetz and Jerry (Stacy) Hankins II; her four grandsons: Jack and Vincent Goetz, and Nicolai and Ethan Hankins; her siblings: Kathy (Jaime) Sanchez, Gary Kostuke II, and Greg Kostuke; and her many nieces and nephews, friends and family.
