Judy Ann Sieleman, 54, Butler, MO, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2007 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, MO with her family by her side after a valiant fight against cancer. Funeral services 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, September 18 at the Atkinson Chapel, Adrian, MO. Burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Friends may call 6:00-8:00 PM Monday at the chapel. Contributions may be made to the Judy Sieleman Memorial Fund, c/o Adrian Bank.
Judy was born November 1, 1952 in Austin, MO, the daughter of Thomas Franklin and Gracie Luzell (Watson) Courtney, Jr. At the age of five, she moved to Ballard, MO. The Ballard farm is where she would grow up, graduate from high school, raise her own children and call "home". Judy married James Herbert Frazier in 1972 and moved to Adrian, MO. One daughter was born to this union, Melissa (Missie) DeAnn. Judy returned to Ballard three years later and eventually divorced in 1982. She married Kelly Sieleman in 1983. While married to Kelly, she lived in Butler, Appleton City, Adrian, but once again returned home to Ballard in 1992. Twin daughters were born to this union, Tomi Shalene and Leslie Dawn. Judy and Kelly divorced in 1994.
Judy was a graduate of Vatterott College. She worked at Sioux Chief Manufacturing in Peculiar, MO for the past seven years. She was an independent woman who liked farm living. She enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, exploring old cemeteries and mansions, fast cars, dancing, rock music, watching TV and most of all, spending time with her family.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents and two nephews, Steven Kendrick and Robert D. Berry. She is survived by three daughters, Melissa Knudsen and her husband, William, Kansas City, MO, Tomi Sieleman and her fiancé, Kevin Pasteur, Ballard, MO and Leslie Hooper, Adrian, MO; three sisters, Carol Patterson and her husband, Marvin, Warrensburg, MO, Donna Courtney-Fetterolf and her husband, Jim, Lee's Summit, MO and Janet Berry, Ballard, MO; Grandma's girls, Kailee Dawn Hooper and Emily Grace Pasteur; one niece, Kristi Berry; three nephews, Tony Kendrick, Larry Berry and Jeffrey Berry and many other family members and friends.
Judy touched so many people in the community and will be greatly missed. She will be remembered by her daughters as a wonderful mother and a close friend. Her family would like to thank Dr. Ronald Hartman for his care over the past two and a half months.
