Juan Gomez Lara, 88, Peculiar, Missouri, died Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Peculiar. Burial will be in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving, Texas.
Juan was born May 23, 1926 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Alberto and Henrietta Lara. He married Frankie Mitchell on December 13, 1973. He had worked for Jenkins Music Company in Kansas City, Missouri.
Juan was a truck driver for Consolidated Freight in Dallas, Texas until retiring. He had lived in Irving, Texas until moving to Peculiar in 2006.
Juan is survived by his wife, Frankie, of the home; one daughter, Cindy Martin and her husband, Gary, Peculiar, Missouri; four sons, Juan Lara of North Kansas City, Missouri, Jimmy Lara of Oregon, Pat Lara, Yuba City, California and Terry Lara, Grandview, Missouri; brothers and sisters, Albert Lara, Dallas, Texas, Jimmie Lara, Chicago, Illinois, Mary Vela, Chicago, Illinois, Connie Casteal, Dallas, Texas and Irene Lopez, Ft. Worth, Texas; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
