Joyce Mae Lemons, 87, Harrisonville, MO, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 16, 2017 in Harrisonville. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 20 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery in Springfield, MO. Contributions may be made to the family for the service, c/o of Atkinson Funeral Home.

Joyce was born March 20, 1930 in Leavenworth, KS, the daughter of Thomas Arg and Catherine Lucille (Beers) Hendricks. She graduated high school from Buffalo, MO. She attended business school in Kansas City, MO. Joyce married William Lemons on October 30, 1948 in Overland Park, KS. In 1965 she moved to California with her husband and her children, staying there until June, 1976. The couple had four children, Michael, Steven, Debbie and Dawna.

Joyce was a loving and devoted mother. She loved to cook and bake. She was a talented seamstress and loved to sew for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed interior designing her home and helping her children with their home ideas. She had devoted friendships and loved to debate political issues, basically any issue. She would give her opinion whether you liked it or not, and no matter what, she was always right! Mom was baptized at the age of 75 at the Cleveland Baptist Church. She will be missed by family and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, William Charles Lemons on May 24, 1989, her mother, Catherine Hendricks, brother, Jimmy Hendricks, and her father, Arg Hendicks. She is survived by two sons, Michael Lemons and his wife, Cheryl, Bentonville, AR, Steven Lemons, Harrisonville, MO; two daughters, Debbie Ward and her husband, Rick, Bentonville, AR and Dawna Gann and her husband, Steve, Hermitage, MO; 7 grandchildren, Kerri Melendrez, Shawn Lemons, Danni Lemons, Traves Gann, Shane Gann, Tonya Gann and Brittany Anderson; 8 great-grandchildren, Kristy, Patricia, Ariana, Mariah, Robby, Jordan, Megan, Shanley, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
