Joyce Verline Burke, 87, of Peculiar, MO, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.
Joyce was born June 4, 1936 to Ralph and Pauline (Fox) Harness in Kansas City, Missouri. She grew up in Kansas City, MO. After high school, she married the love her life, Jim Burke, on August 1, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri.
She spent the majority of her career being a mother and a wife, and raising their 4 children. However, she did enjoy her time spent working for Marion Laboratories for several years and as a school bus driver in the Raymore-Peculiar School District. Following Jim's retirement, they owned and operated an RV park in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, where they also created a wood craft business, JB Wood Products. They traveled to crafts shows selling both retail and wholesale. Joyce enjoyed spending much of her time quilting. Joyce was a member of the First Baptist Church of Peculiar. The legacy Joyce leaves behind is that of constant love for her family and friends.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim Burke; her sons: Rusty and Mike; and sister, Karen Tolle. She is survived by her son, Kenny (Lynn) Burke; her daughter, Debbie (Steve) Patterson; her grandchildren: Michael Burke, Jeff Burke, Hannah Stroud, Jason Burke, and Kristin Carter; and 8 great-grandchildren.
