Joseph "Joe" Harry Moore, 75, Peculiar, Missouri, died Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Vitas Hospice in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 12 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Harrisonville, Missouri. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City. Visitation will be from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 11, with Rosary at 7:30, at the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville, Missouri. Joe was born March 7, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Joseph Aaron and Electa Mildred (Griffith) Moore. He was a 1956 graduate of Grandview High School. He was a U. S. Army veteran, serving for eight years. He married Margey May Prime on November 26, 1957. Joe worked for Safeway Grocery for 37 years and was a proud member of the UFCW Local Union #576. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Harrisonville.
Joe loved music and played the trumpet beautifully. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and camping with the family. He also enjoyed cutting wood and working on vehicles. He loved all sports and especially enjoyed watching football. He was a loving and dedicated family man, husband, father and grandpa and was the best storyteller ever! He loved spending time with all of his family and had nicknames for everyone.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Margey, of the home; four daughters, Catherine C. Gregory and husband, David, Conway, Arkansas, Cindy L. Stock, Peculiar, Missouri, Joell M. Moore, Lee's Summit, Missouri and Melinda K. Pickens and husband, Daryl, Raymore, Missouri; two sisters, Sharon Jackson and husband, K. D., Belton, Missouri and Jana Burton and husband, Ken, Billings, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, Christina, Sarina, Davey Joe, Josh, Samantha and Joelle and 4 great-grandchildren, Shawn, Tagen, Addison and Jakey.
