Jordan Day Lindsey, 74 of Harrisonville, MO, died Monday, December 28, 2009 at his home after a short bout with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville, Mo. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Jordan was born September 29, 1935 in Cabool, MO, the first son of Jordan and Gracia L. (Day) Lindsey. He grew up and received his education through the Cabool school system, graduating from Cabool High School in 1953. After a short time in college, he enlisted in the United States Navy in January, 1955. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Jordan attended the University of Missouri in Columbia from February, 1959 until February, 1962, at which time he was employed by Panhandle Eastern Pipeline in Kansas City.

In 1962 he met Virginia Ann Nash. They were married on November 30, 1963 at the Visitation Catholic Church in Kansas City. To this union three children were born, Mark, Shawn and Brenda. In late 1964 they moved to Harrisonville where Jordan took a position with the Allen Bank and Trust Co. with his father and brother. He worked at the bank for 31 years, retiring on December 30, 1995. He was a 44-year member and past president of Kiwanis Club of Harrisonville, served several years as treasurer of Harrisonville Cass R-9 School District, served two terms as alderman on the City Council of Harrisonville, served several years on the Board of Directors of the Missouri Independent Bankers Association.

Jordan was a member of the Cass County Elks Lodge #2791 and a member of the American Legion Post No. 42. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Harrisonville. Some of his most enjoyable times were camping and fishing with his family and hunting with the boys.

Jordan was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Shawn. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Virginia, of the home; one son, Mark and his wife Melissa, of Harrisonville and children, Shauna and Ethan; one daughter, Brenda and her husband, Grady Boly of Creighton, MO and children, Lindsey Costello and Bradley Freeman; one brother, Dayle Lindsey of Harrisonville, MO; a sister; two great-grandchildren; many nephews, nieces and cousins; an uncle and his wife, Bob and Daisy Lindsey of Cabool, MO; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law and many friends. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
