John Lewis "J. L." Stacy, 78, Peculiar, MO, died Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at his home. Funeral services 1:00 PM Friday, September 14 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville. Burial in Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, MO. Friends may call 6:00-7:30 PM Thursday, September 13 at the chapel. Contributions may be made to The Shriner Hospital for Children.
J. L. was born October 12, 1928 in Callao, MO, the son of Charles Lucas and Viola Mary (Hepworth) Stacy. He was a 1947 graduate of Callao High School. He married Ruby Anna Grable on May 1, 1954 in Macon, MO. J. L. was a Korean War Army veteran.
J. L. had lived in Callao, Missouri before moving to Peculiar in 1955. He worked for Allied Signal-Bendix for 38 years, retiring in 1992. He was a former Police Chief in Peculiar during the 1960's and had served as Fire Chief and was a charter member of the Fire Department in Peculiar. J. L. was also a member of the Peculiar VFW until its closing. He was a member of Callao Christian Church and was baptized on September 1, 2006 in Long Branch Lake.
J. L. was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Leota Crutchfield, one half-sister, Audry Springer. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Anna Stacy, of the home; two sons, John "J. D." Stacy and his wife, Catherine, Des Plains, Illinois and Charles Stacy and his wife, Loretta, Harrisonville, Missouri; one brother, Larry D. Stacy and his wife, Jane Ann, Bevier, MO; one sister, Maxine Moss, Macon, Missouri; four grandchildren, Brian Stacy, Melissa Treola, Justin Stacy and his wife, Azlynn and Michelle Stacy and her fiance, Brant Johnson and four great-grandchildren, Caden Stacy, Jeffrey Treolo, Nathaniel Ashley and Jocelynn Treolo.
