John Robert "Shifty" Sheaffer, Sr., 63 of Independence, MO, died Friday, January 8, 2010 in Forrest City, Arkansas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville, MO. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.

Shifty was born October 16, 1946 in Kansas City, MO the son of John L. and Nancy E. (Willis) Sheaffer. He had lived in Independence most of his life. Shifty was a long term member of the El Forastero Motorcycle Club. He received his patch when he was only 20 years old. He was truly a 1%er. He dedicated his life to his El Forastero and Galloping Goose brothers.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by two sons, John Sheaffer, Jr. and Mike Sheaffer, both of Odessa, MO; one daughter, Shelly (Sheaffer) Longley of Liberty, MO; one sister, Nancy Venturato of Fort Collins, Colorado and seven grandchildren.
