John Daniel Rice, 74, Raymore, MO, died Monday, May 07, 2007 at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, MO. Funeral services 11:00 AM Thursday, May 10 at the St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Harrisonville, MO. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens in Overland Park, KS. Visitation 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, May 9 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
John was born July 18, 1932 in Keytesville, MO, the son of Charles Daniel and Sarah Lena (Lewin) Rice. John married Carol Sandra Landuyt on September 7, 1991. He had lived in Shawnee, KS before moving to Belton 42 years ago and had just moved to Raymore in the last two months. John was a Korean War Air Force veteran.
John was in the construction business and owned and operated a boom truck and crane. John owned and operated NCC Muffler and Brakes in Belton, MO since 1976.
John was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Harrisonville and was a former member of the Lion's Club of Peculiar. John was an active member of the Cass County Democratic Committee and had served as a delegate at the 2000 National Democratic Convention. He was also a member of the Quiet Birdman Flying Club in the Kansas City, MO area and the Cass County Sheriff's Air Wing Reserve. John loved to fly and ride his motorcycle.
John was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Steven Michael Rice. He is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; two daughters, Kathy Rice, Casper, WY and Laurie Rice, Sheridan, WY; two sons, Johnnie Franzeskos, III and his wife, Angie, Lee's Summit, MO and Christopher Franzeskos, Kansas City, MO; one sister, Norma Wright, Shawnee, KS and two grandsons, Johnnie Franzeskos, IV and Joe Franzeskos.
