John Wilson Payne, Jr., 66, Harrisonville, MO, died Thursday, September 15, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville with visitation from 10:00-11:00. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. John was born November 22, 1944 in Laurinburg, North Carolina, the son of John Wilson and Essie (Wilson) Payne. He attended Garden City schools and was a lifelong resident of Harrisonville. He married Linda Cage on June 23, 1963 in Harrisonville.

John worked for General Motors at the Leeds Plant for 17 years and had been a member of the UAW. He had also worked for Sika Company in Grandview, MO for several years. John loved boating and football.

John was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Ann Payne. He is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; one son, John C. Payne, Harrisonville, MO; three daughters, Charlotte Holden, Garden City, MO, Teresa Payne and Patty Payne, both of Harrisonville, MO; one sister, Joan Dunham, Lee's Summit, MO; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
