John Elwood Garrett, Freeman, MO, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, September 17, 2011. Memorial services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Beacon of Hope Church in Raymore, MO. John was born in Kansas City, MO, the son of Ralph Elwood and Lefa A. (Reed) Garrett. He worked for Superior Signal Inc. in Olathe, KS. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

John was preceded in death by his mother. He is survived by his wife, Emily, of the home; four daughters, Kerri Beller, Belton, MO, Stephanie Simpson (Shad), Freeman, MO, Erin Manion (Wesley), Raymore, MO and Jessica Williams (Sean), Freeman, MO; his father, Ralph E. Garrett, Peculiar, MO; one brother, Dennis Garrett, Deming, NM; one sister, Patricia Marengo-Gaskill, Belton, MO; 7 grandchildren, Katelin, Sydney, Johnathon, Joey, Addison, Garrett and Evan; and his 4 faithful puppies.
