IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John "Duane"
Craig
August 13, 1939 – May 20, 2019
John "Duane" Craig, 79, Adrian, MO, died Monday, May 20, 2019 at Adrian Manor. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian, MO, with cremation to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Duane Craig Memorial Fund.
Duane was born August 13, 1939 in Adrian, MO, the youngest of three sons, to Herbert Raymond and Hazel Marie (Nelson) Craig. He was raised and educated in Adrian, MO. In October, 1957, he married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Jones, of Adrian. To this union three children were born: Renee, Michelle, and Michael. In later years, Duane and his children moved back to Adrian, leaving Raytown, MO behind. He then was united in marriage to Susan Westbrook. Unto this marriage a daughter was born, Sarah Marie Craig.
Duane worked at County Club Dairy, driving a truck, and also was a mechanic on the trucks. He also worked construction for many years and had his own business, Craig's General Contracting. There was never a person Duane came into contact with that he didn't already know or befriend. He was a hard-working man, raising four kids, farming row crops with his dad and son, Michael. He was also a member of the Elk's Lodge for many years and would volunteer at Butler VFW when they had their yearly cook-outs. He always had a joke to tell or flirt with the ladies, (if not just to watch them blush). He loved his family with all of his heart.
Duane was a dedicated member of the Creighton First Baptist Church, where he and his daughter, Michelle, were baptized together on August 5, 2007. Duane would volunteer every year to help with Vacation Bible School and would challenge anyone during VBS to see how many kids one person could bring each day, and Duane would always win, hands down!
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, aunts and uncles. He is survived by his four children, Renee Craig, Michelle Kendall (John, Jr.), Michael Craig, and Sarah Marie Craig (Stacey), all of Adrian; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Daddy: We'll love you forever. Amen.
