John Benoni "J. B." Coke, 91, Harrisonville, MO, died Sunday, August 26, 2018 at his home. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 30, 2018, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville,  Burial  in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisonville VFW post #4409.

J. B. was born October 5, 1926 in Creighton, MO, the son of William Walter and Beulah Ethel (Hayes) Coke. He married Sybil Wass on December 25, 1948. After Sybil died in 2002, J. B. married Linda Sue Grainger on April 4, 2004. J. B. was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran. He was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and owned Coke Accounting in Harrisonville. At different times, he also owned banks in Butler, MO, and Memphis, MO. The last bank he owned was the Citizens Bank of Missouri; this bank had four branch offices in Missouri: Harrisonville, Pleasant Hill, Carl Junction, and Airport Drive. After his years as a bank owner, he continued to work in banking as an internal auditor for Sherwood Community Bank.

J. B. helped organize the Harrisonville Junior Baseball League in 1959, its first year of operation. He coached a team in 1959 and each year thereafter until 1970. In 1969 and 1970, he coached Harrisonville's American Legion baseball team. In 1970, the Harrisonville Legion team won their district championship.

J. B. was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Sybil, who passed away on September 13, 2002. He is survived by a son, Jay Coke, Bucyrus, KS; a daughter, Donna Coke, Raymore, MO; three grandchildren, Sybil E. Atkin, Justin W. Coke, and Lauren Coke; and by three great-grandchildren, Adelaide Harrison, Eleni Harrison, and Zane Christian Coke, and two sisters, Thelma Hathaway, Vancouver, WA and May Viles, Ft. Scott, KS. J. B. is also survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; two step-children, Travis Luckan, Harrisonville, MO and Paula Luckan, Lee's Summit, MO; and four step-grandchildren.
