Joel Wayne Young, 60, Kansas City, MO, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Joel was born March 31, 1960 in Harrisonville, MO, a son of Donald Wayne and Garnet Lea (Hughes) Young.  He was a 1978 graduate of Harrisonville High School.  Joel worked for Young's Firestone as an auto mechanic.  He had also worked for Hendrick Motors in Kansas City, Chapman Chevrolet in Phoenix, AZ, and Royal Chevrolet in Harrisonville.

He married Brenda Gunnels in Harrisonville, Missouri on March 23, 1989 and to this union three children were born:  twin girls, Andrea Lea and Terra Lynn and a son, Steven Ray.

Joel was preceded by his mother, Garnet Hayes and stepfather, Bill Hayes, his grandparents, Roscoe and Josephine Young.  He is survived by his companion, Lyndsey Braun, Kansas City, MO; two daughters, Andrea Kling, Raymore, MO and Terra Young, Independence, MO; one son, Steven R. Young, Reno, NV; his father Wayne Young (Sandy), Harrisonville, MO; his step-mother, Carolyn Hayes, Garden City, MO; his brother, Mitch Young, Kansas City, MO; step-brothers, Scott Humbard (Pam), Grove, OK, Jeff Humbard (Monica), Lee's Summit, MO, and Mike Hayes, Lakes of the Ozarks, MO; step-sisters, Debbie Wallace, Springfield, MO, Julie Cantrell (Danny), Garden City, MO, and Laura Beth Hayes, Urich, MO; three grandchildren, Lukas Klin, Tyson Kling, and Kai Young.
